Green Pistachio Cake

Starting with a boxed cake mix, this treat is transformed into a unique and delicious cake that everybody will surely rave about. It also comes with a super yummy frosting, making it more adorable and satisfying.




1 box vanilla cake mix

1 box instant pistachio pudding (3.4 oz)

1 cup oil

1 cup milk

3 large eggs

Green food coloring


1 box instant pistachio pudding (3.4 oz)

1/2 cup milk

1 tub (8 oz) frozen whipped topping (COOL WHIPPED, thawed)

***1 pound pistachios (crushed or coarsely chopped and lightly toasted)



  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then spray a 9 X 13 baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Combine dry cake mix with dry instant pistachio pudding in a medium bowl. Mix well and then add eggs, oil, and milk.
  3. Stir the mixture until just combined and stir in 6 to 8 drops of green food coloring.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let cool completely.


  1. Place the instant pistachio pudding mix in a mixing bowl and add in 1/2 cup cold milk.
  2. Stir until combined and add the thawed whipped topping.
  3. Add a few drops of green food coloring (about 5 drops or so until the desired green color is achieved).
  4. Spread frosting onto the cooled cake.
  5. Sprinkle with some chopped or crushed pistachios.
  6. Slice and serve.


  • For the cake mix, you can also use yellow or white.

One important thing that you have to remember when making this cake is you should let the cake cool completely before frosting it. Otherwise, the frosting would just melt. And I’m telling you right now, nobody wants that. It is also crucial that you keep this cake refrigerated. Only take it out of the fridge when you are ready to serve.
