Homemade Key Lime Pie

Graham cracker crusts are gaining more and more popularity. They serve as an excellent substitute for those traditional, complicated crusts that take forever to make. If you have been browsing pies and other desserts, I’m sure you’ve noticed that most of them involve a graham cracker crust, be it pre-made or homemade. So with this Key Lime Pie recipe that I am going to share with you today, we are going to utilize that unbeatable type of crust.

Is this your first to hear about Key Lime Pie? It is an American dessert pie, which as the name suggests, is made with key lime juice mixed with sweetened condensed milk. It can be served with no topping. Or, if you want to make it look more fabulous, and of course, delicious, you might as well top it with meringue topping or whipped cream. Actually, it can also be served without a crust. But for me, what good is a pie without a crust, right? And besides, like what we have mentioned earlier, making a homemade graham cracker crust is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Also, for those of you who are not really familiar with key lime, it is a citrus hybrid. These little fruits usually come with 25 to 50 mm diameter. Yes, they are tiny, but they come with a number of health benefits. Plus, they can be the star of so many dishes.

  3. Pour into the graham cracker crust.
  4. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  5. Let it cool and top with whipped cream.

You can also garnish the pie with key lime slices if you want.

Wasn’t that very easy? In just half an hour, you should be able to serve the best key lime pie ever to your family. For sure, everybody will love this type of pie. Plus, believe me, those key limes are exceptionally healthy! They can boost your immunity, reduce wrinkles, improve heart health, reduce inflammation, clear skin, and many more.

How to Make the Crust

Although you can buy prepared graham cracker crust from most supermarkets, I still would like to share with you how you can make one. 🙂 All you need is graham crackers, melted butter, and a little bit of sugar. You can actually omit the sugar if you are trying to lose weight.

Mix the graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter and then press it into your pie dish. You have the option to pre-bake it for about 10 minutes to make it firmer.
